Hello
I’m Anita, an author and freelance writer. I’m hopelessly addicted to word games and reading mysteries way past my bedtime.
I live with my family on the Florida farm where I grew up and begin each day, peeping out the window to see which wildlife friends might be visiting.
Over the last 25 years, I’ve served as an English and Journalism professor, a freelance journalist, an assistant PreK-12 teacher, and an event designer & producer.
In response to the Covid shutdown, I founded and now run a nature wellness retreat and private event venue on my family farm, Bonne et Belle, to connect people to the healing space of nature.
When I’m not serving as concierge to the farm’s menagerie of chickens, ducks, rabbits, and one surly cat, I author children’s literature and, as a journalist, I cover travel and nature wellness.

How I Tell Stories
Everything has a soul. Every soul has a story. A why or a how. A beginning, a struggle, a longing, an end.
As a storyteller, my art is crafting empathy–to fashion feeling and imagery from words and rhythms so that my reader is plucked from their own life and plunged into the heart of another.
My blend of education in journalism and literarture shapes and strengthens my storytelling style across genres: language economy (make every word count!), acute accuracy, and fresh diction.
And if my reader laughs or cries (or better yet, both!), then my work is done.
